She barely sees her uncle due to him traveling and finds a secret garden while he is away. She meets Martha, Dickon, and Colin. Colin was confined to a room because Archibald Craven hides him away due to Colin’s physical difficulties. Mary helps Colin to go outside, and they become friends and discover the secret garden together. Colin and Mary work together to rebuild the secret garden to later show Archibald the finished product. Colin finally becomes able to walk, Archibald and his son reunite, and Mary helped to reunite their bond. Moral of story/lesson/theme: Becoming more positive, finding yourself.
